Chapter 2, “ Gifting a Princess”
Knowing that she thought things too far, Lin Wei was not in the best mood for the entire morning.
It wasn’t what happens that’s bothering her but the fact of how embarrassing it was.
Especially that she thought that he was going to kiss her, and with a serious face she said “I don’t have a boyfriend.”
Other things she refuses to think about, the more she thinks about it, the more embarrassed she gets. For the whole entire morning, Lin Wei couldn’t bring herself to look back even once.
Later on during lunch when Lin Wei and Bai Jian were in line. Bai Jian started talking about the “Mentally ill Abbreviation God” that sits behind Lin Wei. “ During morning study until the dismissal of school, he was sleeping the whole time. The bell rang at least ten times and there was no sign of him even moving!’
“… … isn’t that impressive?”
Lin Wei shook back to reality from her embarrassment perfunctorily replied with: “Yeah.”
His arm is pretty impressive…
The whole morning, not even one bathroom break…
…
Year 11 class one’s teacher’s name is Jiang Zhang Yun, she was on vocational training for 8 years and it wasn’t until this year until she became an actual teacher.
Jiang Zhang Yun was Jiang Su’s previous Chinese teacher before he left last year.
After Jang Su was left the school, Jiang Zhang Yun signed an absence for maternity leave for half a year. When she returned, the school decided that Jiang Zhang Yun was not in the best state to teach Jiang Su’s graduating class and of pure coincidence, Lin Wei’s teacher also left with her significant other to another province, therefore, leading Jiang Zhang Yun to teach that class.
Out of everyone in the grade, Jiang Zhang Yun was the only teacher willing to take in Jiang Su. This explains why that even with such a messy school record, Jiang Su was still able to be in class one.
The first class after lunch break is Jiang Zhang Yun’s class. After lunch, many of the students tend to fall asleep during this time. Halfway through the class, the majority of the students’ heads are starting to fall onto the table.
Jiang Zhang Yun holding a chalk pen in her hand, pounded heavily on the blackboard twice and started plopping peoples’ heads up one by one. Except for one individual that occupies the last row, skull still glued to his desk.
Jiang Zhang Yun stared at Jiang Su for a couple of seconds, she hesitated but proceed to grab a box of chalk and steadily hit him on the back: “Stand up.”
However, there is no sign of Jiang Su moving, he’s just sitting laying there… motionless…
Zhang Jiang Yun raised her voice, sternly, she repeated “Jiang Su.”
Now, there seems to be some sort of reaction coming out of the motionless body that was laying there before. Jiang Su moved his head and looked up.
He seems to realize that someone was calling for him, holding the table as balance, he slowly stood up.
“Take off your hood, who allowed you to wear your hood during class?” Ms. Zhang continues to lecture Jiang Su while picking out problems. “How about your uniform? Wasn’t it given to you around two days ago? Why aren’t you wearing it? Where is the disciplinary board member?”
Lin Wei, Silent for a couple of seconds, “Here…”
“Not wearing school uniform, deduct two points for civilization. Sleeping in Chinese class, deduct two more points for lack of discipline. oh, wait, this morning he also slept through four classes, take off another eight points. Last night’s homework, wrote nothing but his name, take off five points for a total of seventeen points. Don’t worry about his punishment as of now. Soon he will be able to save enough to 50 and when he gets there the whole entire semester’s cleaning duty well to up to our Jiang Su. Good luck Jiang Su, have fun! I believe in you :).”
After a short pause, Zhang Jiang Yu asked “ Lin Wei, you’re done?”
Lin Wei, holding her pen, silently wrote, Jiang Su, 17: “Done…”
“Very Good.” Zhang Jiang Yun nodded her head in satisfaction, looked at Jiang Su, and commanded him to take off his hood.
Jiang Su, in the eyes of everyone, stayed silent for a while. Looking super annoyed he pulled down his hoodie.
Lin Wei saw that everyone was looking back so out of pure curiosity, she looked back as well.
What she saw was a fine-looking face, resting right below her eyes.
Jiang Su dropped his eyes, avoiding eye contact with everybody but is easy to observe that his eyelashes are rather long making it appear that his eyes are closed.
On Jiang Su’s right cheek appears to have some sort of scratch, leaving a slight scar.
On his right ear, it has two stubs of tiny black earrings. However, Zhang Jiang Yun is a little short-sighted therefore she did not notice nor deduct any more points from Jiang Su.
“In fact, the ancient poems we have just discussed are treated as the ancient treatment a kind of policy to become allies with foreign countries. Popularly speaking is regarded as ancient diplomatic means. Jiang Su, can you explain what these diplomatic means is?
Jiang Su glimpsed at The blackboard which clearly contains a reference to ancient marriage policies and blurted out “Gifting a princess.”
Zhang Jiang Yun: “…”
the impact of Jiang Su’s words was so empowering to the point that everyone wants to laugh but are too afraid to laugh. everybody lowered their heads and held in their laughter.
Three seconds later, Zhang Jiang Yun couldn’t hold in her laughter either and stated “Alright, you’re technically correct, just stay standing.”
After the discussion, Zhang Jiang Yun looked around the class: “Anyone still sleepy? If so, go standing next to our friend Jiang Su over there.”
The whole class thought the same thoughts in their head, and that is “Who would want to stand next to that weirdo Jiang Su.
Suddenly, compared to not too long ago, the whole class has become rather energetic as if a war between chickens has happened.
Zhang Jiang Yun is very satisfied with the state her students are in, she grabs another chalk and started her lecture.
No.4 High school is considered an elite high school. Therefore, the students there only get a two day weekend once a month.
Coincidentally, today is Friday, and coming up is the full weekend of the month. There is only two classes in the afternoon.
Of those two, the first one is Zhang Jiang Yun’s class and the second is PE class.
After the bell rang for the dismissal of the first class, Jiang Su who has been standing for half the class, kicked his chair out of the way, put on his hoodie, and left.
The PE teacher calling attendance called Jiang Su three times and with the whole class knowing Jiang Su skipped class, Lin Wei silently wonders if she should deduct another five points from Jiang Su’s record.
It was Lin Wei’s first time being a disciplinary committee this semester and the first thing she had to do was dealing with Jiang Su.
The school isn’t located so far from where Lin Wei lives, only two bus stops away.
When Lin Wei arrived home, her stepmother Song Jin has already gotten off work and was washing fruits in the kitchen.
Lin Wei put on her indoor slippers, placed her already taken off tennis shoes neatly onto the shoe rack, carrying her backpack, she walked to the kitchen door, and said: “Aunt Song”
Song Jin turned around and nodded at Lin Wei: “ Gotten off school?”
“Yeah.”
Song Jin didn’t say anything.
Lin Wei didn’t wait for her stepmother’s words and pointed at her bedroom: ‘I’m going to go do my homework now, Aunt Song.”
Song Jin just simply nodded her head.
Afterwards, Lin Wei took her backpack and headed off into her bedroom.
Even though Lin Wei calls her bedroom a bedroom, it is more like a storage closet. Inside there is only a small twin size bed and a table which has taken up most of the room.
Lin Wei unzipped her backpack and took out her packet. She placed it on her table and went straight off to work.
Halfway through, someone knocked on her door.
Lin Wei put down her pen, reached for her door handle, and opened the door.
It was Song Jin
Obediently she said: “Aunt Song.”
Song JIn nodded: “Across from out streets, there are new neighbors that just moved in. I washed some fruits to welcome them. Could you send these to them?”
Lin Wei replied with an ‘Oh” hurriedly got up and obeyed Song Jin’s request.
When Lin Wei arrived, she rang the doorbell many times, with no reply.
Thinning that there was no one at the house, Lin Weiturns around and was about to leave.
However, just as when she was about to leave, behind her was a ding sound coming from the keypad of the lock.
It was Jiang Su, with his cold-looking face.
